I’ve sat here trying to write this review several times, because honestly, I don’t think a standard five star review can possibly do justice to the experience we had or to the two people behind this wonderful place.Sometimes you stay somewhere and you remember the room. Sometimes you remember the location. And every now and again, you meet people who make you remember how they made you feel. That is Dale and Alex. From the very beginning, they treated us with a level of kindness, warmth and genuine care that I honestly wasn’t expecting. Even before we arrived, they reached out personally and made it clear that if there was anything they could do to make our stay easier, they would do everything they could. It wasn't just a nice message. It wasn't just good customer service. They genuinely cared. And throughout our entire stay, they continued to prove it.They went above and beyond to make sure we had free parking right outside, helped us with an early check-in so we didn't have to worry about arriving earlier than check in, and were accommodating with our checkout and leaving the bags to go do what we were doing with the kids before leaving. Every little thing was done with such kindness that you couldn't help but notice. There was never that feeling of “We're running a business and these are our rules.”Instead, it felt like:“You're here with your family. What can we do to make things like home for you?”That difference is enormous. The room itself was beautiful.. clean, spacious, comfortable and homely.. the beds were so insanely comfortable, i genuinely need to know where their mattresses are from!! We all slept like a dream. It was quiet and peaceful too. Great location! but if I'm completely honest, the room isn't what I'll remember most.I'll remember them.I'll remember the conversations.I'll remember the laughter.I'll remember the stories.I'll remember sitting there thinking, “I could genuinely stay here talking to these two all day and night.” Dale and Alex are the kind of people you don't just have small talk with. They have stories, experiences, wisdom, humour and a genuine interest in people. There is something incredibly refreshing about sitting with people who are so open, passionate and authentic. So if you stay here, please don't just go to your room and disappear.Have a chat with them.Give them five minutes and you'll probably end up staying for an hour. 😂And you'll understand exactly what I mean. What touched me most wasn't anything extravagant. It was the little things. It was the effort. The thought. The willingness to help. The fact that they genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. That kind of hospitality comes from somewhere deeper than simply running a successful business. It comes from caring about people. And I think that's what makes this place so special. Even our children loved it. They didn't want to leave, which says everything in itself. We left genuinely over the moon with our stay. But we also left feeling incredibly grateful that we'd crossed paths with two people like Dale and Alex. I honestly cannot fault the place and people who put this much heart into what they do deserve to be celebrated. Dale and Alex, I hope you know that what you are creating here is about much more than rooms, beds and bookings. You're creating somewhere people feel welcome. Somewhere people feel comfortable and seen. And, perhaps most importantly, somewhere people can experience genuine human connection. That is rare. And it's something you should both be incredibly proud of.There are thousands of hotels in the world where you can sleep for a night. There are far fewer where you leave thinking“I'm really glad I met those people, what a great place!!.”That's how I feel about you both. And I genuinely hope you continue to receive the success you deserve, because your passion, kindness and dedication are obvious. If you're reading this because you're considering booking, I honestly couldn't recommend them more highly.Book it.And if you can, book directly with Dale and Alex rather than through Booking.com. Their prices are fantastic, and by booking directly you're putting your money behind a small business and supporting two people who genuinely pour their hearts into what they do.In a world dominated by huge companies and impersonal transactions, supporting people like this matters. Small businesses deserve our support. But small businesses run with this much pa - Rachel C
Had a lovely stay at the Woodleigh. The room was clean and comfy, and the hosts were really friendly throughout our visit. The location is ideal — on North Shore, just a few hundred metres from the Cliffs tram stop, so it's easy to reach the attractions and main promenade, but still nice and peaceful when you come back at night. On-street parking nearby is free, quiet, and safe too.The hosts were also very accommodating with a later check-in, and kindly kept our bags safe after checkout so we could carry on with our day until leaving later that evening. That kind of flexibility makes such a difference.Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone! - A
